श्रीगुरु चरन सरोज रज,निज मनु मुकुर सुधारी

बरनऊं रघुबर बिमल जसु,जो दायकु फल चारि

Shree Guru Charan Saroj Rajja, Nija Manu Mukuru Sudhari

Baranav Raghubar Bimala Jassu, Jo Daayaku Phal Chaari

I am using the dust from my Guru’s Lotus feet to clean the mirror of my mind as a gesture of reverence before I start reciting the prayer.

I will now recite the glory of Lord Rama of Raghu Vamsa (Dynasty) who is the provider of four fruits of life (Dharma, Artha, Kamya and Mokshya).

बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौंपवन-कुमार

बल बुद्धि बिद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस बिकार

Budhi Heena Tanu Janike, Sumirav Pavan Kumar

Bal Budhi Vidya Dehu Mohi, Harahu Kelaysu Bikaar

 Since, I lack intelligence. I am praying to Lord Hanuman who is the son of Lord Pavan (Wind)

I plead Lord Hanuman to grant me strength, intelligence and knowledge. I also request him to end my sufferings and pain

अंजनि-पुत्र पवनसुत नामा

Ram Dhoot Atulita Bhaladhama

Anjani Putra Pavan Sutanama

O’ Lord Hanuman, You are also known as Ram Dhoot (messenger of Lord Rama), Atulita Baladhama (possessor of incomparable and immense strength), Anjaniputra (Son of Devi Anjani) and Pavan Suta (Son of Lord Pavan, the wind god).

महावीर विक्रम बजरंगी

कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी

Mahaveera Vikrama Bajarangi

O’Lord Hanuman, you are very brave and valorous with Vajra ayudha (lightening) strength. You dispel evil thoughts and your companionship rewards good sense and wisdom

O’Lord Hanuman, you are golden complexioned and wear auspicious attire with good fragrance. You adore ear rings and curly hair.

हाथ बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजै

कांधे मूंज जनेऊ साजै

Hath Vajra Aur Dwaja Biraje

Kandhe Munj Janevu Saaje

O’Lord Hanuman, you have in your hands the strength of a lightening (Vajra Ayudha) and carry a flag of victory (Kesari). You always wear the sacred thread across your shoulder.

संकर सुवन केसरीनंदन

तेज प्रताप महा जग बन्दन

Shankara Suvan Kesari Nandan

Tej Prathap Maha Jag Bandhan 

O’ Lord, you are incarnate of Lord Shiva and son of Kesari. You have conquered the world with your great brilliance.

विद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर

राम काज करिबे को आतुर

Vidyavaan Guni Atichatur

Ram Kaaj Kareve Ko Athur

O’Lord Hanuman, you have acquired vast knowledge by learning and great virtues to a very great extent. You are always ready and keen to complete Lord Ram’s work.

Sukshma Roop Dhari Siyahi Dikhava

Vikata Roop Dhari Lanka Jarava

O’Lord, you have assumed a tiny form to search for Devi Sita in Lanka and have assumed a fearsome and angry form to burn Lanka.

भीम रूप धरि असुर संहारे

रामचंद्र के काज संवारे

Bheem Roop Dhari Asura Samhare

Ramchandra Ko Kaaj Samhare

O’Lord Hanuman, you have assumed a gigantic form to kill Asuras (demons) and have fulfilled Lord Ramchandra’s work.

लाय सजीवन लखन जियाये

श्रीरघुबीर हरषि उर लाये

Laaye Sajeevani Lakhan Jiyaye

Sri Raghubeer Harashi Uri Laaye

O’ Lord, you have brought Sanjeevani herb to revive the life of Lord Lakshmana which filled Lord Rama’s heart with happiness and have then embraced you.

रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई

तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई

Raghpathi Keenhi Bahuth Badayi

Tum Mam Priya Bharathahi Sam Bhayi

O’Lord Hanuman, You are praised extensively by Lord Rama who said that you are as dear to him as his brother Lord Bharatha.

सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं

अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं

Sahas Vadan Tumhare Jasu Gaave

Asu Kahi Sripathi Kant Lagave

O’Lord, Thousands of people are singing of your praises and glory that Lord Rama has embraced you warmly.

सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा

नारद सारद सहित अहीसा

Sanakadikh Brahmadhi Munisa

Including everyone from all directions, Lord Brahma, all munis (hermit/monk), Sage Narada, Devi Sarada (Devi Saraswati) and Ahisa

जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहां ते

कबि कोबिद कहि सके कहां ते

Jama Kuber Dikhpaal Jaha Te

Kabi Kobid Kahi Sake Kaha Te

Even Lord Yama (God of Death), Lord Kubera(God of Wealth) and Digpala (Lords of all directions) acknowledges and sings your glory. O’ Lord It is very difficult for a mere poet and scholars to describe your accomplishments and excellence.

तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा

राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा

Tum Upakaru Sugreevahi keenha 

Ram Milaya Raj Pad Deenha

O’Lord Hanuman, you helped Sugreeva (King of Vanaras) to win the throne of  Kishkinda by forming alliance with Lord Rama.

Lankeshwar Bayi Sab Jag Jaana

Everyone knows that Vibeeshana has become the King of Lanka by praying to you Lord Hanuman and by following your advice .

जुग सहस्र जोजन पर भानू

लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू

Jug Sahasra Yojana Par Banu

Leelyo Taahe Madhur Phal Jaanu 

O’ Lord Hanuman, you have attempted to swallow the sun itself who is at a thousand yojanas (1 yojana = 12.87km) distance from earth thinking it’s a sweet fruit in your childhood.

प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं

जलधि लांघि गये अचरज नाहीं

Prabhu Mudrika Mele Mukh Maahi

Jaladhi Laange Gaye Acharaj Naahi

O’Lord, it is not a wonder that you have crossed the ocean to reach Lanka in search of Devi Sita with Lord Ram’s ring in your mouth as a sign of his messenger.

Durgam Kaaj Jagat Ke Jete

Sugam Anugraha Tumhare Tete

O’Lord Hanuman, with your grace and blessings the impossible tasks in the world become easy and accomplished.

राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे

होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे

Ram Dhuaare Tum Rakhware

Hote Na Agnya Binu Paisare

    O’Lord, you guard the door to Lord Ram’s abode and no one can enter  without your permission.

सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना

तुम रक्षक काहू को डर ना

Sab Sukh Lahe Tumhare Sarna

Tum Rakshak Kaahu Ko Darna

O’ Lord Hanuman, all the happiness and joy in the world will be felt in your care and blessing. There is no fear to be felt with you as protector.

आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै

तीनों लोक हांक तें कांपै

Aapan Tej Samharo Aape

Theeno Lok Hank Te Kaape

O’Lord, Your brilliance has no match except yourself. The three worlds (Heaven, Earth and Underworld) shiver when you roar with anger.

भूत पिसाच निकट नहिं आवै

महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै

Bhoot Pisach Nikat Nahi Aave

Mahaveer Jab Nam Sunave

O’Lord Hanuman, Demons and all other evil forces do not harm or approach near a person who recites your divine name.

नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा

जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा

Naasi Rog Hare Sab Peera

Japat Nirantara Hanumath Beera

 O’Lord.  When a person recites your name regulary, all the diseases, pain and suffering go away.

संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै

मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै

Sankat Te Hanuman Chudave

Man Kram Vachan Dhyan Jo Laave

O’ Lord Hanuman, whoever prays to you with full-heart, good-deeds, sweet words and meditation, their sufferings, pain and hardships will be removed. 

सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा

तिन के काज सकल तुम साजा

Sab Par Ram Tapasvi Raja

Theen Ke Kaaj Sakal Tum Saaja

O’Lord of Penance, you have accomplished all of the Lord Ram’s tasks with love and devotion.

और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै

सोइ अमित जीवन फल पावै

Aur Manorath Jo Koi Laave

Soi Amit Jeevan Phal Paave

O’Lord Hanuman, when one express their wishes full-heartedly to you, only will they experience their wishes full-filled and all the fruits of life

चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा

है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा

O’Lord, your glory have been experienced all across the four yugas ( vedic eras namely Satya, Treta, Dwapara and Kali) where your brilliance has enlightened/brightened the universe.

 O’Lord Hanuman, you are the protector of sages and hermits and the annihilator of demons and other evil souls for which you are the dearest to Lord Ram.

O’ Lord, you are blessed by Devi/Mother Sita to have the ability to grant your devotees with eight siddhis (Anima, Mahima,Laghima,Prapti, Prakamya, Isitva, Vasitva and kama-avasayitva) and nine riches(Padam,Mahan,Kharab,Kund,Nil,Sankh,Kachhap, Mukund,Makar).

   राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा

सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा

Ram Rasayan Tumhare Paasa

Sada Raho Raghpathi ke Dasa

O’Lord Hanuman, you are a great devotee to Lord Rama and will always be a follower to him who is the ruler of the universe (Lord Ram).

तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै

जनम-जनम के दुख बिसरावै

Tumhare Bhajan Ram Ko Paave

Janam Janam Ke Dukh Bisrave

O’Lord, when one sings and chants in your praise, the prayers ultimately reach to Lord Ram who makes the suffering in all the lifetimes to vanish.

अन्तकाल रघुबर पुर जाई

जहां जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई

Anthkaal Raghubar Pur Jaaye

Jaha Janam Hari Bakth Kahaye

O’Lord Hanuman, when a devotee completes his life here on earth, he/she reaches the abode of Lord Ram and remains a devotee to Lord Ram in his/her next births too.

और देवता चित्त न धरई

हनुमत सेइ सर्ब सुख करई

Aur Devatha Chith Na Dharaye

Hanumath Seyi Sarva Sukh Karaye

O’Lord, your devotee need not pray to any other God as your worship grants him/her the complete happiness of life. 

संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा

जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा

Sankat Kate Mite Sab Peera

Jo Sumero Hanumath Balbeera

O’Mighty Lord Hanuman, when one prays to you, his/her pain, misfortunes and sufferings are put to end.

जै जै जै हनुमान गोसाईं

कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं

Jai Jai Jai Hanuman Gosayi

Krupa Karohu Gurudev Ki Naahi

Glory to you Lord Hanuman, Please be my teacher and grace me with your knowledge.

छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई

When a person recites this Hanuman Chalisa for a hundred times, his/her misfortunes and bondage will come to an end and experiences the greatest joy.

Whoever recites this Hanuman Chalisa will experience spiritual bliss as experienced by Lord Shankar.
