HANUMAN DANDAKAM IN ENGLISH

Stanza 1: శ్రీ ఆంజనేయం ప్రసన్నాంజనేయం ప్రభాదివ్యకాయం ప్రకీర్తిప్రదాయం భజే వాయుపుత్రం భజే వాలగాత్రం భజే హం పవిత్రం భజే సూర్యమిత్రం భజే రుద్రరూపం భజే బ్రహ్మతేజం 

Translation: Sri Anjaneyam, Prasannanjaneyam, Prabhadivyakayam, Prakeerthipradayam, Bhaje Vayuputram, Bhaje Vaalagaathram, Bhaje Hum Pavithram, Bhaje Suryamithram, Bhaje Rudraroopam, Bhaje Brahmatejam 

Meaning: O'Lord Hanuman, you are a possessor of a pleasant appearance. You are always shining with divinity. You are the bestower of fame. I pray to you the son of Vayu (wind). I pray to you the possessor of strong tail and limbs. I pray to you as you are the embodiment of purified soul (holiness). I pray to you the friend of sun. I pray to you the ferocious form of Shiva (Rudra). I pray to you the shining form of Brahma. I praise all your attributes.

 Stanza 2: బటంచున్ ప్రభాతంబు సాయంత్రము నీ నామ సంకీర్తనల్ జేసి నీ రూపు వర్ణించి నీ మీద నే దండకంబొక్కటింజేయ నూహించి నీ మూర్తినింగాంచి నీ సుందరంబెంచి నీ దాస దాసుండనై రామ భక్తుండనై నిన్ను నే గొల్చెదన్ 

Translation: Batanchun Prabhathambu saayanthramu Nee Naama Sankeerthanal Jesi, Nee Rupu Varninchi, Nee Meedane Dandakambokkatimjeya nuhinchi, Nee Murthininganchi Nee Sundarambenchi, Nee Daasadasundanay, Rama bhaktundanay, Ninnu Ne Golchedhan

Meaning: O'Lord Hanuman, In your various names, I will sing songs in your praise from morning to evening to describe your divine form. Anjaneya, I plan to compose a dandakam (a style of poem where there is no limit to the length of a single line) describing your beautiful appearance and to adore your magnificence. Dear Lord I am the servant of your servants and like you l am also a devotee of Lord Sri Rama. I pray to you Lord Hanuman

Stanza 3: నీ కటాక్షంబునన్ జూచితే వేడుకల్ జేసితే నా మొరాలించితే నన్ను రక్షించితే అంజనా దేవి గర్భాన్వయా దేవ, నిన్నెంచ నేనెంత వాడన్దయాశాలివై చూచితే, దాతవై బ్రోచితే, దగ్గరన్ నిలిచితే, తొల్లి సుగ్రీవునకున్ మంత్రివై స్వామి కార్యంబు నందుండి, శ్రీరామసౌమిత్రులం జూచి, వారిన్ విచారించి, సర్వేశు పూజించి 

Translation: Nee Katakshambunan Juchithe, Vedukal Jesithe, Naa Moralinchithe, Nannu Rakshinchithe, Anjana Devi Garbanvayadeva, Ninnencha Nenenthavadan, Dayasilivay Chuchithe, Dhatavay Brochithe, Daggaran Nilichithe, Tolli Sugreevunakun Manthrivay, Swamikaryambu Nandundi, Sri Rama Soumitrulan Juchi, Varin Vicharinchi, Sarvesu Pujinchi 

Meaning: O’Lord Hanuman, Please let me seek your blessings and experience your magnificence. Please listen to my pleads and protect me. Dear Hanuman, the one born out of Devi Anjana’s womb, be my supreme protector as I am just a mere mortal . Please look after me with your kindness. Dear God, shower me with your blessings and be my provider. O’Lord Anjaneya, please stand beside in the hour of need. You acted as a minister to Sugreeva and on his duty, that you have noticed Lord Ram and Lord Lakshman in the forests. You have worshipped them on having learnt of their identities in your enquiry 

Stanza 4: యబ్బానుజున్ బంటుగావించి, యవ్వాలినిన్ జంపి, కాకుస్థతిలకున్ దయా దృష్ఠి వీక్షించి, కిష్కింధకేతెంచి, శ్రీరామ కార్యార్థివై, లంకకేతెంచియున్, లంకిణింజంపియున్, లంకనున్ గాల్చియున్, భూమిజన్ జూచి, యానందముప్పొంగ, యాయుంగరంబిచ్చి, యారత్నమున్ దెచ్చి, శ్రీరాముకున్నిచ్చి, సంతోషనున్ జేసి 

Translation: Yabbanujun Bantugavinchi, Ya Valinin Jampi, Kakuthsathilakun Daya Drushti Veekshinchi, Kishkindakethenchi, Sri Rama Karyarthivay, Lankake Thenchiyun, Lankinin Jampiyun, Lankayun Gaalchiyun, Bhoomijan Juchi, Yanandamupponga, Yayuungarambichi, Yarathnamun Dechi, Sri Ramunakunichi, Santhoshamun Jesi 

Meaning: O’Lord Hanuman, you have become a follower and devotee of Sri Rama. You have got Vali (brother and usurper of Sugreeva’s wife) killed by Lord Rama and made Sugreeva the king of Kishkinda. You have then decided to help Lord Sri Ram (the scion of Kakutsa Dynasty) in his quest for searching and rescuing Devi Sita and have brought Lord Ram and Lord Lakshman to Kishkinda. You swore an oath to help Lord Ram and in the process, you have reached Lanka. You have killed the demoness Lankini and burnt the city of Lanka. The people were overjoyed by seeing your deeds. You have successfully found Devi Sita and have given her Lord Ram’s ring to prove your identity as the envoy of Lord Rama. You have then returned to Lord Rama with Devi Sita’s Choodamani (a gem that adorns the hair of Devi Sita) as a proof of finding out Devi Sita at Lanka and made Lord Ram happy 

Stanza 5: సుగ్రీవునుం అంగదున్ జాంబవంతాది నీలాదులున్ గూడి, యాసేతువున్ దాటి, వానరా మూక పెన్మూకలై, దైత్యులన్ ద్రుంచగా, రావణుడంత కాలాగ్ని ఉగ్రుండుడై, కోరి, బ్రహ్మాండమైనట్టి యాశక్తినిన్ వేసి, యా లక్ష్మణున్ మూర్ఛనొందింపగ నప్పుడేపోయి సంజీవనిన్ దెచ్చి, సౌమిత్రికిన్నిచ్చి ప్రాణంబు రక్షింపగా

Translation: Sugreevunum, Angadhun, Jambavanthadhi, Neeladhulun Gudi, Ya Sethuvun Dhati, Vanarul Mooka Penmookalay, Dhaitulan Drunchaga, Ravanudantha Kalagni Ugrunduday, Koti Brahmandamainatti Yashakthinin Vesi, Ya Lakshmanun Moorcha Nondimpaga, Nappudepoyi Sanjeevanin Dechi, Soumitrikinichi Pranambu Rakshimpaga 

Meaning: O’Lord Hanuman, on mission to reach Lanka and rescue Devi Sita, you along with Sugreeva, Angadha, Jambavantha, Neela and the Vanara Army have constructed the Ram Setu (bridge) and reached Lanka. The Vanara army started waging war in which many demons were destroyed. This raged Meghanadh’s (son of Ravan) fury as fierce as Rudra and used his power granted to him by Brahma. This spell has led to Lord Lakshmana’s unconsciousness. You have then leaped to Himalayas with lightening speed to get the Sanjeevani Herb which has healing properties. You have given this herb to Lord Lakshmana and revived him to consciousness 

Stanza 6: కుంభకర్ణాది వీరాదితో పోరాడి, చెండాడి, శ్రీరామబాణాగ్ని వారందరిన్ రావణున్ జంపగా నంతలోకంబులానందమైయుండనవ్వేళనన్, నవ్విభీషణున్ వేడుకన్ దోడుకన్ వచ్చి, పట్టాభిషేకంబు చేయించి, సీతామహాదేవినిన్ దెచ్చి, శ్రీరాముకున్ ఇచ్చి, అయోద్యకున్ వచ్చి, పట్టాభిషేకంబు సంరంభమైయున్న నీకన్ననాకెవ్వరున్ గూర్మిలేరంచు మన్నించినన్ 

Translation: Kumbakarnadhi Veeradhitho Poradi, Chendadi, Sri Rama Banagni Varandarin Ravanun Jampaga Anantha Lokambulanandamamay Yundu Navellanan, Navibheshanun Vedukan Dhodukan Vachi, Pattabhishekambu Cheyinchi, Sitamahadevinin Dechi, Sri Ramukun Ichi, Ayodhyakun Vachi, Pattabhishekambu Sarambhamayunna Neekanna Naakevvarun Gurmileranchu Mannimchinan 

Meaning: O’Lord Hanuman, You have fought with great warriors like Kumbakarna and have defeated many demons in the Lanka war. Lord Sri Rama had Killed many demons including Demon King Ravana with his fire of arrows. The good prevailed over the evil. All the people of all the worlds were happy and on your advise, Vibheshana was made the king of Lanka. You then brought Devi Sita from Ashoka Vana in Lanka and rejoined her with Lord Rama. You along with the entire Vanara Army have come to Ayodhya to grace the occasion of Lord Sri Rama’s Coronation. O’God Almighty, there is no one who is more endearing to me than you and I hold you close to my heart. Dear Anjaneya, Please dissolve my sins and sorrows 

Stanza 7: శ్రీరామభక్తి ప్రశస్థంబుగా నిన్ను నీనామసంకీర్తనల్ చేసితే పాపముల్ బాయునే భయములున్ దీరునే భాగ్యముల్ గల్గునే సకలసామ్రాజ్యముల్ సకలసంపత్తులున్ గల్గునే 

Translation: Sri Ramabhakthi Prasasthambuga Ninnu Nee Naama Sankeerthanal Chesithe, Papamul Bayune, Bayamul Dheerune, Bhagyamul Galgune, Sakalasamrajyamul, Sakalasampathulun Galgune

Meaning: O’Lord Anjaneya, When one chants poems and sing songs in your praise with devotion to Lord Sri Rama in their heart, you would remove their sins, overcome their fears, grant them with luck, Prosperity, property and wealth 

Stanza 8: యో వానరాకార! యోభక్తమందార! యోపుణ్యసంచార! యోధీర! యోశూర! యో వీర! నీవే సమస్తంబు నీవే మహాఫలంబుగా వెలసి యాతారకబ్రహ్మ మంత్రంబు సంధానముంజేయుచు స్థిరముగా వజ్రదేహంబునున్ దాల్చి, శ్రీరామ శ్రీరామ యంచున్ మనఃపూతమై యెప్పుడున్ తప్పకన్ తలచు నాజిహ్వయందుండియున్ నీ దీర్ఘదేహంబు 

Translation: Yo Vanarakara, Yo Bhakthamandara, Yo Punyasanchara, Yo Dheera, Yo Sura, Yo Veera, Neeve Samasthambu, Neeve Phalambuga Velesi, Ya Tarakabrahma Manthrambu Patiyunchun/ Sandhanamcheychu Sthiramuga Vajradehambunun Dalchi, Sri Rama Sri Rama Yamchun Manahaputhmay Yappudun Thappakan Talachu Najihvayandundiyun Nee Deerghadehambu 

Meaning: O’Lord Hanuman, You have the appearance of a Vanara/Monkey, You are always devoted to Lord Sri Rama, You always travel all the three worlds, You are a courageous warrior. O’divine one, you are everything to me. You continuously chant the “Sri Rama” Nama which is the Taraka Brahma Mantra. You have a body which is as strong as a diamond. O’Lord Anjaneya, Please with your marvelous form, make me chant Sri Rama Nama continuously with my tongue 

Stanza 9: త్రైలోక్యసంచారివై, శ్రీరామ నామాంకితధ్యానివై బ్రహ్మవై, బ్రహ్మ తేజంబంటచున్ రౌద్ర నీ జ్వాల కల్లోల హావీర హనుమంత! ఓంకారహ్రీంకార శబ్దంబులన్ క్రూర సర్వ గ్రహ భూత ప్రేత పిశాచంబులన్ గాలి దయ్యంబులన్, నీదు వాలంబునన్ జుట్టి నేలంబడంగొట్టి నీముష్టిఘాతంబులన్ బాహుదండంబులన్ రోమఖండంబులన్ ద్రుంచి, కాలాగ్ని రుద్రుండవై 

Translation: Trilokyasancharivay, Sri Rama Namankithadhyanivay, Brahmavay, Brahmatejambatanchun, Roudra Nee Jwala Kallola Haa Veera Hanumantha! Om Kara Hreemakara Sabdambulan, Krura Sarva Graha Pretha Pisachambulan, Gaali Dayyambulan, Needu Vaalambunan Jutti Nelambadamgotti, Neemushtigathambulan, Baahudandambulan, Romakandambulan Drunchi, Kalagni Rudrundavay

Meaning: O’Lord Hanuman, you forever travel all the three worlds chanting the name of Lord Sri Rama for which you are endowed with glittering chastity (Brahmam). O’Lord Anjaneya, you are a ferocious warrior who dispels chaos. You with the word of ‘Om’ And ‘hreem’ destroy the demons, devil, ghosts by imprisoning them with your strong tail and dashing them to the ground. You break them into pieces with your mighty arms and fists. You tie them with your hair blades and drag them. At the time of annihilating the evil, you appear like fire-spewing Lord Shiva 

Stanza 10: బ్రహ్మప్రభా భాసితంబైన నీదివ్యతేజంబునన్ జూచి, రారా నాముద్దు నృసింహాయటంచున్,దయాదృష్ఠివీక్షించి, నన్నేలు నాస్వామీ! నమస్తే సదా బ్రహ్మచారీ నమస్తే! వ్రత పూర్ణహారీ నమస్తే! వాయుపుత్రా నమస్తే!నమస్తే నమస్తే నమస్తే నమస్తే నమస్తే నమో నమః 

Translation: Brahmaprabha Basithambaina Nee Divyatejambunan Juchi, Rara Naa Muddhu Narisimhayatanchun, Dayadrushti Veekshinchi, Nannelu Naa Swamy Namasthe Sadaa Brahmmachari Namasthe, Vratha Purnahari Namasthe, Vayuputhra Namasthe, Namasthe Namasthe Namasthe Namasthe Namasthe Namo Namaha 

Meaning: O’Lord Anjaneya, I see your bright and glowing form which is eternal. Please come to me like my beloved Narasimha (who appeared for Prahlada). Please bestow your benevolence on me O’Lord Hanuman. My humble salutations to you, the eternal bachelor. My humble salutations to you, the son of the wind god (Vayu). We hail thee O’Lord Hanuman
